Travel and tourism are among the most important sectors and with a great weight for the Albanian economy, both in terms of money and employment, but also for its positive forecasts of further growth. The tourism sector in 2024 recorded a direct contribution of 26.1% of national GDP, positioning this sector as one of the main contributors to economic development. The figures indicate a record total of approximately 11.7 million international tourists registered as having visited Albania during 2024.These indicators reflect the economic activity generated by such industries as: hotels and other accommodation structures, travel agencies and tour operators, airlines and other modes of passenger transport. In 2024, the tourism sector created 278 000 new jobs, which constitutes about 21.8% of the total employment in Albania.
