AIDA, with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the World Bank Group (WBG), developed an outreach campaign focusing on the tourism sector in Spain

The Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA), with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the World Bank Group (WBG), developed an outreach campaign focusing on the tourism sector in Spain during June 18-20, 2024.
In the context of attracting elite European brands to the local market, AIDA held physical meetings with some of the most prominent Spanish hotel groups, including Barcelo Group, Catalonia Hotels and Eurostar Hotels by Groupo Hotusa to present the Albanian government’s offer, the fiscal incentives of the tourism sector, Albania’s competitive advantages, etc.
During the meetings, it was found that there is a high interest in becoming part of the Albanian market, and that the attention of the largest Spanish hotel groups is to develop elite structures on the Albanian coast, but without excluding the placement in the biggest cities instead of offer 12-month tourism such as Tirana, Durres, Vlora, etc.
In addition to natural beauties and competitive fiscal incentives, hotel groups also appreciated the improvement of local infrastructure as well as frequent air connections between the two countries as an added value in Albania’s offer to invest in tourism.
The hotel groups also appreciated the initiative and the work of AIDA, which will now be a fellow traveler on their journey to Albania. Representatives of the hotel groups will personally visit Albania during the July-September 2024 period, where they will also be assisted by AIDA.
At the end of these meetings, AIDA also held a meeting with the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Madrid and with the Chamber of Economy Albania – Spain where, in addition to discussions on the increased interest in Albania as a destination to invest in the tourism sector and not only, the need for an increased and more efficient coordination of public and private actors was also assessed in order to achieve the common objective of strengthening the Albanian economy.
