AIDA visits Invest North Macedonia in the framework of regional cooperation

The staff of the Investment & Aftercare sector at AIDA, with the support provided by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), made a study visit to Skopje, North Macedonia. The purpose of the visit was to exchange ideas and experiences with a focus on supporting investments and improving the business climate in both countries. In the meeting held with the counterpart agency Invest North Macedonia, its Executive Director, Mr. Gazmend Abdija, made a presentation of the agency and the mission, focusing on the support of companies through the facilitation of continuous growth and the state aid that North Macedonia offers to the most developed companies and sectors.
Further, the AIDA staff held a meeting with the Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones (TIDZ), to familiarize themselves closely with the best practices and their implementation against foreign investors. The representatives of this directorate made a detailed presentation of its mission, which is directly related to the free economic zones, where about 40 companies with American, Canadian, German, Turkish, Italian, etc. capital develop their activities. The meeting was followed by field visits to the two economic zones, Skopje 1 and 2, where companies operating mainly in the automotive sector operate.
At the end of the visit, the parties agreed on mutual commitment for continuous institutional cooperation, in order to support business expansion, economic growth and especially in order to exchange best practices that facilitate investments.
